How many times do we go through out our weeks and treat most activities, meetings, appointments as mundane, routine or “have to’s.”
I remember 15 or so years ago, Rob Crocker (wise Young Life veteran) and I talking about how he fits it all in and stays fresh and on top of things.
With a regional ministry position at the time, a wife, three young daughters, Rob’s tank always seemed full.
He encouraged me that he masters his schedule. The next thing on the agenda is most important and a significant God-moment can happen at any time with anyone.
Sure, we have things we can’t avoid and things we would prefer not to do.
But any moment can extend beyond mundane and become sacred.
A moment of growth or insight. A conversation that leads to life change. A planning session with a follow-up process that can elevate an organization. You fill in other opportunities.
A Gathering Locker Room had good dialogue about this on Friday.
It’s all in perspective. I’ve tried to own that philosophy.
I have a 7:30 meeting today with a young ministry man I mentor. Who knows what may happen for either one of us in sharing time. Then a potential holy moment in a court-room in support of a friend. A lunch with a long-time high school friend will follow.
Then to Urbana to meet with a guy that came to our Franzese breakfast.
I have no clue where those will go and what shape they may take. Eager expectancy meets ‘being in the moment’ and a chance to see God show up.
What’s on your calendar today? Times and meetings of same old same old or moments of ambitious anticipation. When you least expect it, expect it!
- Several great events coming over next few weeks, don’t miss a one of them:
- Men, we have some new Locker Rooms starting in coming weeks, so please contact me, if you have interest. I am reading a book, that speaks of one of two most transforming things in a man’s life is being with other men, meeting and sharing life consistently.
- SAVE THE DATE: US Senate Chaplain Barry Black, will join us for our 4th Annual Outreach - http://tinyurl.com/2g8fxxw - on Saturday, May 7, at ECA.
