LeBron, L-e-B-r-o-n and More LEBRON!

July 8th, 2010 by Jeff

Hey, what’s everyone doing at 9 p.m. tonight?

Never mind, I know.  We’ll have our eyes on ESPN.  C’mon, we will.

My wife, Kara, is a saint, and is more than tired of this.  Most of the rest of us?

We shouldn’t complain.  We feed this hunger engine.  We can’t stop.  We want more.

We complain that athletes get paid way too much.  We still turn on the tube and watch.  We say going to a game cost way too much money for an individual or family.  We still go through the stadium turnstile.

I’ve heard folks say they’ll never watch another  NBA game, if LeBron leaves northeast Ohio.  Haven’t most of us said that before.

We are the problem, we spoonfeed the vicious cycle.  ESPN just plays to our desires.  They didn’t create them.

We say he is waaaaaaay self-absorbed.  I say many of us are, not just him.

I’ll be starting what could be a four-week series on humility starting this weekend, for my Monday Master’s Moment. But with material in public eye recently, and the great need to deal with this topic, it may go longer.

As is usually the case with many things in life, let’s not look at LeBron and bash, let’s look in the mirror.

LeBron: Is he part of the circus of just leading us, as ringleader?
