LXXVI: It’s Not Our Policy, BUT … (3.8.10)
March 8th, 2010 by Jeff
I talked to one of my sons over the weekend a good bit about obedience.
His mom and I and other leaders in his life have his best in mind purely for him and for the good of others.
Consequently, obedience will lead to excellence for self and others, creating wins for all.
While shopping Saturday afternoon with my three sons at Fairfield, I went to a store at the mall to ask for a shopping bag.
The two young men in the store were all about customer service. After making me feel like I just made a big ASK, they gave me one and said “Our company policy is to not do this, but … “
Interesting.
Typically, if that has been a need, I just get a bag, end of story.
I should clearly feel bad about asking for a bag to hold several items, I guess. This is a no-no, and should not be done, but … OK, this time.
What other company policies, are they willing to made exception for?
In a Locker Room this morning we talked about sin, and several of us shared that we are like Paul many times.
We do what we don’t want, and we don’t do what we should.
That happens often from the cradle to the grave.
Clearly department stores are no different.
As I have read recently about Moses and the Israelites, one expression is shared numerous times.
“They did everything, just as the Lord had/has commanded.”
There were times that the Bible says they obeyed, because of Moses.
Where will your obedience to God take you? Where will your disobedience lead you?
Who needs to see your obedience to elevate their level?
You will fill up your shopping bag with lots of decisions this week, hopefully obedient ones, just as the Lord commands.
