Barbara Walters almost made me cry!
Barbara Walters is known for her unique and tear-filled interviews.
Last night, I watched her 20/20 special from Friday, entitled “Stand By Your Man: Sex and the Political Wife.”
She chronicled much that women have had to deal with in high-level politics from names like Clinton, Edwards, McGreevey, Sanford, and Spitzer.
The show focused on Jenny Sanford. I came away very impressed with her. I felt my heart go out to her and connect like few interviews I’ve ever seen for countless reasons.
During the feature, Walters commented the messy affair of Gov. Mark Sanford “was one of the most explosive sex scandals … of 2009.”
She paused just before the last two words. I expected a period at that point in the sentence. I was wrong.
It’s amazing where our world is now with these tragedies. It’s expected. No longer are things, disasters in history, but just for that given year.
Men, we must do more than receive a bride at an altar. A great wedding does not a great marriage make.
Our word and commitment must be longer than our feelings, or until the thought of leaving for “greener pastures” comes.
Let’s be the men we are supposed to be. Let’s be the men our world needs. Let’s be men that are so in the serving and giving to others’ business and so high on integrity that Barbara Walters will be crying based on her respect for us.
Our wives, children, communities and world deserve better!
